Baby Update- C’s Turn

A lot of people have been requesting updates on the boys and how they are developing and such.  They are over 5 months now, which is amazing and insane!   They are definitely identical genetically, but different as night and day in nearly every other aspect, including looks!

C:  C is the first born, the big guy.    C absolutely refused to be born.  He was cozy in there and did not want to come out.   He really didn’t care how long  Mommy was in labor.  He didn’t care how many induction drugs they gave her.  He was staying there.  That stubbornness has not changed a bit.   He is my  more demanding baby by a mile.

When C decides he wants to eat, he means he wanted to eat five minutes ago and you better stop what you’re doing and feed him or suffer the consequences.  This is particularly annoying when the “thing” I have to stop doing is driving the car.  Or feeding his brother.  Or sitting in church.   There is absolutely NO calming him until he decides his tummy is full.   The child screams so loudly its heart-wrenching.   Passersby secretly dial CYS on their cell phones to report me because they are certain that he has not been fed in weeks, or possibly months.   I am really hoping this temper lets up by the toddler years or I am in big trouble!

C also refuses to conform to a schedule.  He eats in erratic patterns.  He cat naps all day long.  5 min here.  10 min there.   He wakes 2-3 times during the nigth to eat.  Unless I cave in and let him sleep with me.  Then he sleeps soundly and all night long.  Its a double edged sword.    Sleep now, or sleep with an overly attached 6 year-old later?  ugh.   Usually he worms his way into my bed somewhere around 5 am.

C is also no longer content to be in infant-blob state.  He wants to stand on my lap constantly.  He wants to turn around and bounce and look around everywhere.  His attention span is about 4 seconds which is annoying and adorable at the same time.   C is also strong.   His legs are ripped with little baby muscles.  He can hold himself up using the side of his crib.   I really think he may skip crawling and go straight to walking.   He has no interest in being on his tummy and rolls over immediately when put there.

In addition to being strong, C is also a baby genius.  Yep.  I said it.  He is so smart.  He imitates everything I do after seeing it only 1 or 2 times.  His latest favorite activity is blowing big giant raspberries.   He also “talks” and tells stories for long periods of time each day.   C also does great with solids.  He screams if I don’t get the spoon to his mouth fast enough to suit him.

C is super charming and charismatic and amazing.  There is only one person I know who can possibly measure up, and you’ll find out all about him tomorrow!

  1. Interesting! Elise is my first born and, so far with our solid foods experience, she’s more demanding. I’ve never seen anything like it. Elise is also our charmer. I wonder if it’s a first-born thing?
